September 2007 - Second Annual 2008 Internationalization Grant Award Competition Begins

The West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission (HEPC) announced the Second Annual 2008 Internationalization Grant Award Competition.  Up to $15,000 will be awarded for a one-year period to three public institutions of higher education to implement sustainable programs that seek to internationalize their majors, core curricula and foreign language programs with some impact on international student enrollment or sending West Virginia students abroad.  The application deadline is February 29, 2008. All public state universities in West Virginia are eligible to apply if they have submitted an updated Action Plan Form to the CIHE Council outlining international goals and objectives by December 14, 2007. Only one application per institution may be submitted.  Proposals from institutions who were not award recipients in the first round of grant awards are encouraged.  More information about the grant application process is detailed in the Request for Proposals. Grant applications must be submitted by a Campus Internationalization Committee.  Six West Virginia public colleges and universities received a total of $90,000 to develop or expand international education initiatives during 2007 Grant Award Competition.  Concord University, Fairmont State University, Marshall Community and Technical College, Shepherd University, West Virginia State University and West Virginia University were each recipients of Commission grant awards of up to $15,000.
